Why Reflexology

Why Reflexology?

Reflexology, an ancient Chinese healing art ‘rediscovered’ and brought to North America in the early 1900s, promotes relaxation, stress & pain reduction, increased elimination and improved circulation throughout the body.

It is a pressure therapy that is based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet (hands and ears, too) which correspond to every part, gland and organ in the body. Many people think of reflexology as a foot massage and, although it is indeed very relaxing, it is much more than a foot rub!

Using specific pressure techniques on these ‘reflexes’ causes ‘signals’ to be sent through the nervous system to the brain which, in turn, releases chemicals that can cause not only a relaxation response but a ‘normalizing’ response in the related areas of the body.

During your Reflexology session, you remain fully clothed except for the removal of your shoes and socks. The session is carried out with the client on a massage table. Gentle pressure is applied to the reflexes on your feet. If there are areas of tenderness, pressure is adjusted to meet your needs.

Your First Session

Your first session includes a review of your health intake form to determine any areas that could impact your Reflexology treatment, a 45-minute session, as well as helpful techniques for you to use on your own when you leave.
